I had never heard this mentioned in over 50 years as a Catholic so on returning home I googled it. I found a quote from Pope Benedict (oh how I miss him!) who in 1997 on this very subject said 'There are too many contrary instances of popes the Holy Spirit obviously would not have picked.'<br /><br />Your comment about liberal Catholics having had their Faith tested under Benedict and for many of us today having our Faith tested under Francis seems to imply that we are today very divided. But perhaps it is the same test of Faith for all of us? Perhaps many of us became too complacent when 'things were going our way' especially with the issue of Summorum Pontificum and now we are being challenged in our Faith while others feel more at ease.<br /><br />I look forward to your continuing on this theme.Pelerinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14243859145007696053noreply@blogger.com
