New procedures for canonizing saints have been put in place. In fairness, though, these new saints will all have been hang-overs from Pope John Paul's time. Perhaps we may see the flood ebbing somewhat over the next couple of years. As for Pope John Paul himself, the article asks Cardinal Martins whether Pope Benedict is about to declare him a saint without any further messing around.
