The Black Virgin in the basilica of Notre-Dame de la Daurade in Toulouse has had a makeover. Her costumes having got tatty over the years, several top couturiers have been commissioned to produce seven new outfits for her; contributors include Christian Lacroix, Jean-Charles de Castelbajac and Franck Sorbier.

Well, only the one "Spirit of Vatican II" effort out of the six illustrated isn't at all bad going!
It is interesting that you publish this post about the lace on Our Lady's drawers in France when the Church is being attacked on all sides in consequence of the Irish abuse scandal. That says everything about your priorities.
Interesting post, Father, but why top couturiers - and how many widows' mites did they charge? Couldn't a group of good ladies (or lads) have been found from among the congregation - doing it for devotion?
My understanding is that they did it for nothing.
Thanks for your reply, Father.
By the way, how come there are thirteen stars around Our Blessed Lady? (See pictures #1 and #2.)
