Pædophilia—you've read the book, now see the film.

The acclaimed German (former Catholic, now Presbyterian) film director, Wim Wenders, President for the last ten years of the European Film Academy is to make a film about the Catholic Church and pædophilia, I imagine because nobody has spoken about this subject before.

He plans to tell the whole story, including accusing Pope Benedict of having failed to break the vicious circle of silence about the subject.

Great! Just what we need – and from a ‘former’ Catholic too! I’m sure he will treat the Holy Father with the same even-handedness that Rolf Hochhuth treated Pius XII in The Deputy.

Grrr…

In order to ensure this film is treated with the seriousness it deserves could they perhaps invite Sylvester Stallone to play the role of Pope Benedict.

A better title would be "Predatory homosexuals - the movie"

+ Wolsey

Unfortunately, Wenders is an excellent film director, so if he does make such a film, it will probably be effective.

Fortunately, the report merely says he considers the theme fitting for film treatment, not that such a project is underway. There is no mention of funding, still less a script and/or cast. Most producers would be aware that there's not a great appetite for paedophilia-themed films.
