Down to earth with a bang—

This, on the other hand is frankly disturbing:

Europe Ecology offers you its best wishes for the new year 1432 / 2011

Understand?

I still don't understand why it's disturbing.

Sorry Father but I don't find this disturbing. Grigny is in the Paris banlieu and as such presumably has a high proportion of North African residents. Surely all the poster is doing is being considerate to them in order to attract their votes?

They're a bit late - 1432 began on 7 December (1 Muharram).

I have googled a few sites regarding this poster and they all seem to be anti-Islamist or far Right and Front National sites. One said that the poster was 'doing the rounds of the Far Right blogosphere'. I would hate people to think that Valle Adurni is part of the Far Right blogosphere.

Strangely several people have commented that the Moslems do not actually celebrate their new year as is done in the West so perhaps this Green candidate will not get many extra votes through his poster. Incidentally the mayor of Grigny belongs to the Communist party!

Indeed the hegira. Saint Michael defend us! Any news of the Thiberville affair? Is Abbe Michel still there?

I have been trying to find out about how the Thiberville event ended too. Strangely there seems to be no more information after last August on the internet.

I have learnt from my searches however, that a Bishop whom I had the pleasure of meeting last year was the Bishop who originally placed the Abbe Michel in Thiberville and he thought highly of him and has been shocked by what went on there last winter. This Bishop also supported (he used the word tolere in an interview!)Fr Montgomery-Wright whom I believe Fr Finnegan mentioned once on his blog.

The famous bishop who tolerated Fr Montgomery-Wright was Jacques Gaillot, then of Evreux. I take it you aren't referring to him, Pelerin?
