Off to Canada

Tomorrow I'm off to Canada, staying in Toronto, with the Oratorian Fathers for a week. Then on to the States. I'm much encouraged about Canadian liturgy, having discovered here this video of a Byzantine Pontifical Mass at the recent Eucharistic Congress. The sanctuary, in a stadium, was, of course, designed with the N.O. in mind. I'm not sure what success I'll have keeping you posted while I am away—I suppose it largely depends on my access to the internet.

Do have a safe journey, father! We look forward to reading about your trip.

I watched the closing ceremony of the Eucharistic Congress on KTO recently. There was some trouble with the sound but it was good to see the large numbers taking part. The Monstrance used was modern but impressive and must have been extremely heavy - unless it was perhaps hollow? I can't remember who was carrying it but I bet he was glad when it was all over!

Nice, now if they can just get rid of those "Rent" inspired headsets and go to something more discrete....oh, and the French....nix that.

Thank you and safe trip.

Yes, I'm not unacquainted with the Oratory, Jackie. The Toronto community and house are very impressive.

Anonymous — Er, I'm not really sure how to answer your question. The Continuous Hermeneut gets a lot more hits than I do, but then he works much harder at it. I suspect, though, that you are making a mistake that Fr Tim and I have suffered from for many many years.
Although
• we went to the same school (and just crossed over)
• we are both parish priests in the Southwark province
• we both celebrate the Extraordinary Use when we can
• we both teach at St John's Seminary, Wonersh,
• and we are both incredibly handsome, athletic, intelligent &c &c,
WE ARE NOT THE SAME PERSON!
He is Fr Timothy Finigan, and I am Fr Seán Finnegan. We are not related (except, possibly, very distantly indeed).
Now you know. Please pass the word around!

Oh come on Fr 'incredibly handsome & athletic' must be stretching it somewhat unless you are talking about my PP of course!!
