A complete contrast; in Canada, alcohol can, it seems, only be purchased in Government-run shops. I saw a posh wine shop in Toronto, but nowhere else other than in not-very-common governmental ‘liquor stores’. Here in San Diego, I purchased for mine host a bottle of Moët champagne (significantly cheaper than in the UK, I might say) i
n a pharmacy!

Here in the US when and where you can purchase liquor varies from state to state and even county to county.
I always suspected that champagne was medicinal. I suppose that the champagne was with the vitamin pills and the red wine was over by the heart medicines ...
