Carthusiastic enquiry

A monk of St Hugh's Charterhouse would like to know if anyone knows anything about this picture. Can anyone help, please?

Eastern Orthodox, but westernized, so 19th or early 20th century.

Looks like it's a picture of the Blessed Virgin and a young Jesus.

It's a still from episode 1 of the BBC's 1981 adaptation of John le Carre's Smiley's People. Ostensibly it's at the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Paris.
